For the second time this season, Stefon Diggs proved himself the best rookie in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Diggs was named the ACC Rookie of the Week for his performance in a 19-14 Maryland victory over Wake Forest. The speedy rookie receiver hauled in five passes for 105 yards, his second straight game with more than 100 yards receiving.
Trailing Wake in the fourth quarter, Diggs took a simple six yard pass and exploded for a 63-yard gain. Diggs was eventually tackled inside the Wake Forest 10-yard-line, which set up a one-yard touchdown run for running back Justus Pickett. Diggs was also named Rookie of the Week for his play in a Maryland loss to West Virginia in September.
Joining Diggs with conference honors was linebacker Demetrius Hartsfield. If Diggs made the play that let the Terps take the lead, Hartsfield secured the win with a crucial sack of Wake Forest quarterback Tanner Price with under a minute to play.
For his efforts, the ACC named Hartsfield as Linebacker of the Week. He finished the game with 10 tackles, seven solo, and a pass breakup in addition to the crucial sack. The Maryland defense limited Wake Forest to 241 yards of total offense for the game.
