The regularity in which the ACC honors Maryland's Stefon Diggs is making the announcement rather ho-hum news, though there continues to be nothing ordinary about the dynamic freshman
For the third straight game Diggs earned weekly honors from the conference, this time as Specialist of the Week, the ACC announced on Monday. Returning the opening kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown against Virginia tends to get noticed. Previously Diggs picked up Rookie of the Week nods following performances against West Virginia and Wake Forest.
Another Terrapin receiving an honor, Linebacker Darin Drakeford who was named Linebacker of the Week for his role in the road win at Vriginia.
Diggs also turned a short pass into a 60-yard touchdown and finished with a season-high 239 all-purpose yards.
Drakeford recorded seven tackles, including five solo and three for a loss, along with two sacks. He also forced a fumble during the fourth quarter which Maryland recovered.
Seeing as Drakeford is the second straight Terp named Linebacker of the Week - Demetrius Hartsfield earned the honor the previous week - Maryland has a chance for another three-peat situatuion with this week's homecoming game against North Carolina State. That's not to say the linebackers will catch Diggs' streak, not the way he's rolling. Then again, few have.
