What do football coaches do the last weekend before the start of practice? They head out of town…to watch more football.

Frank Beamer and his coaching staff visited the New Orleans Saints Friday who are currently practicing at The Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs W.Va.

It is not uncommon to see college coaches visit with their professional counterparts as a way to learn and share ideas.

Frank Beamer also got a chance to catch up with former Hokie kicker Shayne Graham who played for Virginia Tech from 1996-1999.

Graham is best remembered for hitting a 44-yard field goal as time expired to beat West Virginia 22-20 and keep Virginia Tech’s undefeated season alive. It seems ironic that he would return to W.Va. with an NFL team.

As for the coaches, they will soon be back at work as practice begins Monday. Hopefully they will bring with them that New Orleans magic that has helped the Saints win a Super Bowl and four divisional crowns in the past five years.
