Virginia Tech's Erick Green, the nation's leading scorer, was named third-team Associated Press All-America on Monday. The senior guard becomes only the second Hokie named to one of the first three AP All-American teams.
Named the ACC Player of the Year in March, Green averaged 25.0 points per game. The senior guard from Winchester (Va.) scored in double figures in every game this past season while shooting 47.5 percent from the field.  Green set a new school record with 801 points scored this season and moved into 10th place in career scoring at Virginia Tech.
Dell Curry, the only other Virginia Tech player to receive the AP All-American nod, was a second-team selection in 1986.
The first team was Otto Porter Jr. of Georgetown, Trey Burke of Michigan, Kelly Olynyk of Gonzaga, Doug McDermott of Creighton and Victor Oladipo of Indiana. The second team is Mason Plumlee of Duke, Marcus Smart of Oklahoma State, Shane Larkin of Miami, Cody Zeller of Indiana and Ben McLemore of Kansas.
Joining Green on the third team are Jeff Withey of Kansas, Nate Wolters of South Dakota State, Deshaun Thomas of Ohio State and Russ Smith of Louisville.
