People watched the Super Bowl. Again.According to an NBC press release Monday morning, the Giants win over New England posted a 47.8 overnight rating.The Washington, D.C., area was not among the top 10 metered markets.The rating is the third-highest Super Bowl overnight rating ever, per information released by The Nielsen Company.Other facts:The rating grew to 51.8 percent as the game concluded.It was 14 percent higher than NBCs telecast of the Pittsburgh-Arizona Super Bowl.It was seven percent higher than the last Giants-Patriots Super Bowl.Boston had its highest ever overnight rating for an NFL game (56.7).New York had its second-best (49.7), but was 18th among metered markets. Bars dont count.The two top-rated Super Bowls are Green Bay-Pittsburgh last year and Denver-Giants (Super Bowl 21).The top five metered markets were Boston, Indianapolis, Norfolk, Columbus and New Orleans.
