Bucs have done it the right wayBy Ivan CarterThursday, December 9, 2010We'll have local product and former Virginia Tech star Cody Grimm on the show today to catch up on how he's doing after suffering a season-ending injury and to get a preview of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a team that stunk last season but is 7-5 and very much alive for a playoff spot this season.Grimm, a seventh-round pick, sort of illustrates how second-year coach Raheem Morris and the Bucs have built a strong foundation: smart use of draft picks, wise moves in free agency and very good coaching.Consider: the Bucs are 7-5 despite missing 8 opening day starters (not counting Grimm, who was lost after starting 9 games in place of an injured starter) and having 14 players on the roster who were taken in the 5th round or later. Think about that. Also, when the Bucs have invested a high draft pick, they have hit a winner. Quarterback Josh Freeman (17th o'all 2009) and this year's gem, wide receiver Mike Williams (4th round this year), stand out as examples. Also on today's show, Nats pitcher Craig Stammen will stop by and talk about the team's offseason movement so far. Can't wait to hear what he thinks about the Jayson Werth signing. Doc Walker is in and you know he'll have something to say about Albert Haynesworth's suspension and my man Gene Wang of the Post will be in talk NFL and preview Saturday's big Army-Navy game in Philly.
