The 2011 Marine Corps Marathon is less than two weeks away and CSN wants you to know about a special event coming up on the Wednesday before the race. On Oct. 19 Ivan Carter, host of Washington Post Live on Comcast SportsNet, and Alan May, CSN hockey analyst, are hosting a pre-race happy hour event at St. Arnolds bar in Dupont Circle. Carter and May will be behind the bar from 6 to 8 p.m. and all of their tips will go to the Washington Humane Society.
Ivan Carter is set to run in the marathon as part of Team Washington Humane Society. He and his teammates will be at St. Arnolds and hope to have some fun, get to know each other, and of course raise some money for a good cause. Also scheduled for the event are drink and food specials, live auction items and giveaways.
The Washington Humane Society is the only Congressionally-chartered animal welfare agency in the U.S. and has been active in animal rights in the D.C. area since 1870. For more on how you can donate money to the Humane Society, visit their website here.
The Marine Corps Marathon will take place on Sunday, Oct. 30 and begins at 7:00 a.m. The race begins on the National Mall and ends in Rosslyn, Virginia.
