Mike Rizzo and the Nationals may have already scouted Cuban outfielder Yoenis Cespedes, but technically he isn't a free agent yet. That could change next week as Cespedes will likely become available at some point during next week's winter meetings.
Ken Rosenthall of FOXSports.com had the report and says teams should be able to sign him by mid-month at the latest. The 26-year-old has interest from at least half of the teams in Major League Baseball and several experts have projected his worth at 50 million.
The report also says that Cespedes will only become a free agent once he establishes temporary residency in the Dominican Republic.
