Were t-minus seven days away from Stephen Strasburgs major league debut for the Nationals. Hell make his first start at home against Pittsburgh and as of Monday night, only single seats were available. But its not just D.C. thats fired up for Strasburg. His second start is projected for June 13 in Cleveland and the attendance-starved Indians will look to take advantage. For a Cleveland franchise in desperate need of gate receipts, news about a visiting team or player does not get much bigger, writes the Cleveland Plain-Dealer. Jansen Column Debuts
Former Redskins offensive tackle Jon Jansen is back in the writing game, this time for the Detroit Free Press. His first offering is about being released last year by the Redskins. He signed with the Detroit Lions.I received the call from the Redskins organization as my family and I ate breakfast at our favorite diner in Northern Michigan, Jansen wrote. My instructions were to travel to Virginia to meet with ownership and be given the option to be released or retire a Redskin. What started out to be one of the worst days of my professional career would end as one of my bright spots. As with anything that comes to an end, something new must begin. I began the day as a Washington Redskin and finished the day a Detroit Lion.Jansen will be writing a story every Sunday and also answer questions via email.
