When the Washington Capitals announced the hiring of former player Dale Hunter on Monday morning, it surely evoked many memories for area hockey fans. Hunter played 12 seasons for the Capitals and made the All-Star game as a Cap in 1997. His number was retired by the franchise on March 11, 2000 and during the ceremony the Caps presented him with one of the penalty boxes from the Capital Centre, their former home.
Hunter was also a member of the Capitals team that reached the Stanley Cup Finals in 1998 and is fifth in franchise history with 556 points. He ranks third in the team's history with 375 assists.
