The Redskins are leading the league in penalties with 24 and in penalty yards with 223. Mike Shanahan isnt all that concerned.Well you have to look at the penalties, he said. We are a very disciplined football team. There were a number of those calls that shouldnt have been called and a number of calls that should have been called, he added. We will work on those things, but I guarantee you at the end of the day we wont have those penalties. They have what was the most noticed penalty in the league on their ledger so far, Josh Morgans 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in the late stages of Sundays loss to the Rams. However, that is just one of five major penalties against the Redskins in their two games. They also have been hit for a horse collar tackle, two personal fouls, and for unnecessary roughness. The Redskins offensive line has been hit with five holding calls and four false starts. The defense has committed pass interference twice and has been offside twice. Besides those and the two personal fouls, they have been called for any other infraction more than once.Kory Lichtensteiger is the most penalized Redskin with three flags drawn for 25 yards (two holding and a false start). Shanahan disputed two of those calls, saying DeJon Gomes (personal foul, pass interference), Madieu Williams (pass interference, unnecessary roughness), and Trent Williams (holding, false start) have been penalized twice. No other Redskins has been hit more than once.
Despite penalties, Shanahan says Redskins are disciplined
