Capitals rookie Cody Eakin practiced on Thursday but is expected to wait until game time to decide if hes playing in todays 4 p.m. game against the New York Rangers at the Verizon Center.
Midway through Wednesday nights 4-3 overtime victory against the Winnipeg Jets Eakin was the victim of a blindside check to the head by forward Zach Bogosian. Eakin returned to action but took a total of jut 13 shifts for 9:58 of ice time.
Bogosian had a hearing with NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan on Thursday but was not issued a suspension for the hit.
The Caps have won two straight one-goal games after losing four in a row. The Rangers have lost two straight after winning seven in a row.
Look for Michal Neuvirth to get the start for the Capitals after Tomas Vokoun looked shaky on Wednesday.
