First downWe start with a trivia question. John Beck will become the 21st different starting quarterback for the Redskins since the 1993 season. Just that statement shows everybody how unstable the franchise has been since they last won the Super Bowl. Can you name the other 20? The full list is below this entry.Second down
Mike Shanahan called going to Beck a difficult decision, but in reality, he didnt have a choice. Rex Grossmans turnovers were developing into a bigger problem each week, climaxing with the four-interception debacle against Philadelphia.

Perhaps the biggest reason to go with Beck is that the offensive line is in shambles. Lets put it this way old Mo Hurt is one play from entering the game at guard.Third down
The quarterback change has meant extra work for the Carolina defensive staff. Coach Ron Rivera said the Panthers will watch old film of Beck to get an idea of how he plays.Well look at tape just to watch him and see what he does and what he does best, Rivera said. Those are the things that we as coaches have to see and tell the players. Its not the players job to sit there and have to study this kid when he was coming out of college or when he was a rookie. Its our job as coaches to give that information to them and then for them to see those things.Fourth down
Donovan McNabbs name was brought up a few times during Shanahans Wednesday post-practice presser. Shanahan claimed he never said he had confidence in McNabb. What I did say is I thought Donovan had a lot of ability and could throw the ball as well as anybody in the NFL, Shanahan said. Let me say this. When you do pick somebody, using Donovan as an example, you give a guy every opportunity you can to prove what he can do, and then you have to make a decision going forward. Do you want him for two years, three years? do you want him to be your QB of the future? When we did make the decision to go in a different direction, we thought it was in the best interest of the football team to not have him and somebody else.McNabb was benched by Minnesota this week in favor of Christian Ponder. An NFL personnel man landed a few haymakers to McNabb in an interview with Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.Who watched the tape of that guy and thought he could play? the personnel man told McGinn. Fat. Inaccurate. He wasnt interested in playing three years ago. Its one of those things where, 'If they keep paying me, I guess Id better show up.'Ouch.TRIVIA ANSWER1993: Mark Rypien (10 games), Rich Gannon (4), Cary Conklin (2)1994: Heath Shuler (8), John Friesz (4), Gus Frerotte (4)1995: Frerotte (11), Shuler (5)1996: Frerotte (16)1997: Frerotte (13), Jeff Hostetler (3)1998: Trent Green (14), Frerotte (2)1999: Brad Johnson (16)2000: Johnson (11), Jeff George (5)2001: Tony Banks (14), George (2)2002: Shane Matthews (7), Patrick Ramsey (5), Danny Wuerffel (4)2003: Ramsey (11), Tim Hasselbeck (5)2004: Mark Brunell (9), Ramsey (7)2005: Brunell (15), Ramsey (1)2006: Brunell (9), Jason Campbell (7)2007: Campbell (13), Todd Collins (3)2008: Campbell (16)2009: Campbell (16)2010: Donovan McNabb (13), Rex Grossman (3)2011: Grossman (5), John Beck (???).
