A recap of Georgetowns 62-48 win over Howard:

Why Georgetown won:

Talent prevailed. Georgetown came in ranked number 18 in the country while Howard is coming of a season in which they won just six games. On paper this game was supposed to be a blowout but it didnt play out that way in person. Georgetown ran their Princeton offense to near perfection scoring on a number of easy back door lay ups. But give Howard head coach Kevin Nickelberry credit for his kids playing the Hoyas a lot closer than anyone predicted. Nickleberry has put together quite the out of conference schedule for the Bison. Later this month theyll make trips to Oregon St., Indiana, Kansas and Kansas St. Could be a long month for HU.
Key Moment:

Georgetown started the game on a 17-0 run and looked is if they might run away with this one. Howard didnt score until the 10:38 mark when Dadrian Collins sank a three pointer from the wing.
The Good:

After falling behind by 17 early on Howard did their best to keep it close. They forced a number of turnovers and cut the lead down to as little as two. Nickelberry said that he scheduled such a tough out of conference schedule with the hopes that his young team would gain some experience of playing against some of the best players in the country. He believes that this will benefit his team once they begin play in the MEAC conference.
The Bad:

After getting off to that hot start Georgetowns offense really fizzled. Shooting 33 percent from the field is not going to get it done once they get into Big East play. Jason Clark and Hollis Thompson combined to shoot 3-for-16 from the field.
Key Stat:

Free throw line: Georgetown won this game at the charity stripe. They attempted 42 free throws (made 29) compared to Howards 22 free throw attempts.

Player of the game:

On an afternoon where his jumper wasnt falling Hollis Thompson got to the free throw line 11 times. Thats what you want to see from a scorer. Find ways to contribute even if youre shot isnt falling. Thompson briefly tested the NBA waters this past summer and scouts will like the aggressiveness he showed going to the basket against Howard.
