It's just a hunch, but don't expect Mike Green or Troy Brouwer to be in the lineup Friday night when the Capitals visit the Hurricanes.

Green, sidelined since Oct. 22 with a sprained right ankle, skated lightly for about 35 minutes on Thursday but was favoring his right foot and did not participate in the team's practice.

Brouwer also did not practice Thursday. He fell awkwardly into the boards Tuesday night after a check from Anaheim's Toni Lydman and appeared to re-injure the right shoulder that was surgically repaired over the summer.

If Green and Brouwer are out of the lineup, look for the Caps' lineup to look the way it did today at practice:

FORWARD LINES

Alex Ovechkin-Nicklas Backstrom-Alex Semin
Cody Eakin-Macus Johansson-Mathieu Perreault
Jason Chimera-Brooks Laich-Joel Ward
Matt Hendricks-Jeff Halpern-Mike Knuble

DEFENSE PAIRS

John Erskine-Dennis Wideman
Jeff Schultz-Karl Alzner
Roman Hamrlik-John Carlson
