Capitals defenseman Mike Green will sit out of tonight's game against the Vancouver Canucks (CSN, 10 p.m.) and might be sidelined until next weekend's games in Carolina and Long Island.Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau told reporters in Vancouver he's hopeful that Green is available to play next weekend, which probably means Green will miss the Capitals' home game against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night.Sidelined since injuring his right ankle Saturday night in afour-point performance against the Detroit Red Wings, Green has not practicedwith the team since then.
The Caps have been cautious with theirinjured players this season and Green appears to be no exception.
Goaltender Michal Neuvirth sat out two weeks with a bruisedright foot and right wing Jay Beagle remains shelved after getting knocked outin an Oct. 13 fight with the Penguins Arron Asham.
With Green out, look for Sean Collins toplay his second straight game as his replacement tonight in Vancouver. Collins was solid in Thursdaynights 2-1 loss in Edmonton, taking 19 shifts and getting 12:45 of ice time. Collins was a plus-1 whileplaying on a third defense pairing with Jeff Schultz.
