Not that Andray Blatche was going to be an NBA All-Star --he's far from it -- but just the fact that Wizards forward is not even on the ballot shows you how little is thought of him throughout the league. Blatche is averaging 16 points and 7 rebounds a game so far this season, certainly not all-star numbers but when you see the likes of Toronto's Linas Kleiza (11 points, 3 rebounds a game) and journeyman Drew Gooden of the Bucks (10 and 6) on the ballot that has to sting Blatche. Think about this... Klieza wasn't even in the league last year and he gets a nod over the Wizards' big man. Twenty-four forwards were listed on the ballot and not one was named Blatche.
Who decided Blatche was not worthy of getting on the ballot?
The list is compiled by media folks who cover the NBA on a regular basis and that includes, J.A. Adande (ESPN.com), Marv Albert (TNT), Art Garcia (NBA.com) Marc Spears (Yahoo! Sports), Doug Smith (The Toronto Star) and Ian Thomsen (Sports Illustrated).
While Blatche got snubbed, teammates John Wall, Gilbert Arenas and JaVale McGee were listed on the all-star ballot. The voting starts today and continues through late January. The all-star game will be held February 20 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
