Gilbert Arenas may be home in Orlando for the holidays if the latest trade rumor ends up being true. This time, Yahoo Sports has Washington in serious discussion with the Magic about a deal for Arenas. It is not clear in the report who the Wizards would get in return for the one time all star guard, but the deal would have to include either high priced Magic swingman Vince Carter, high priced forward Rashard Lewis or high priced backup center Marcin Gortat. You get the idea here, whoever the Wizards can get for Arenas they would gladly take it to unload the three years and roughly 63 million remaining on his deal.

Arenas at one time was one of the premiere scorers in the NBA, but knee injuries and the infamous locker room gun incident that got him a 50 game suspension last season has clearly made the road back to being that dominant player a bumpy one. So far this season, Arenas' game has been up and down but lately more down as he has struggled with his shot averaging 17.3 points a contest. The Wizards are also going nowhere fast as the current losing streak is up to 6 and a record of 6-18.

The Magic may be thinking about getting Arenas because the team is slumping and need a spark. Orlando has lost 5 of their last 6 games and have witnessed the Miami Heat catch fire with an 11 game winning streak now. Also, Arenas has a close relationship with Magic GM Otis Smith and Arenas even owns a home down in Orlando.

Arenas would love a fresh start somewhere other than D.C. but his hefty contract has scared away potential suitors except for Orlando. If the Wizards can make this move it would be quite a coup. They would unload the 60 million plus owed to Arenas and they would truly get to start that rebuild that we have heard so much about.
