We won't have to wait until ten minutes before the Wizards home opening tip against Philadelphia tonight to find out if Gilbert Arenas will play because coach Flip Saunders just ruled the former all star out for the game as he is still hobbled by a bad right ankle. This will be the third straight game Arenas has missed due to the injury.
As for rookie guard John Wall, he will play despite a sprained right ankle that kept him out of practice yesterday. "I'm sure he will play, I would think," Saunders said before this morning's shoot around here at Verizon Center. Wall leads the Wizards with 21 points and 9 assists a game.
Something has to give tonight as both the Wizards (0-2) and Sixers (0-3) are looking for their first win of the season. "They played three games and they were pretty competitive games so they have had opportunities," Saunders said. Philadelphia is led by Andre Igoudala and Louis Williams who both average 16.3 points a game. Evan Turner, who was taken second in the NBA draft the Wizards took Wall with the top pick, averages just 8.3 points a game.
