Known for his absurdly athletic throw-downs, Wizards 7'0 center JaVale McGee will take flight in the NBA's slam dunk contest All-Star Weekend in mid February in Los Angeles. McGee tweeted, "three big men in the dunk contest, really excited!"
McGee will reportedly compete with Clippers forward Blake Griffin, OKC's forward Serge Ibaka and Bucks guard Brandon Jennings. Official announcement will come on Thursday when all the participants for All Star Saturday night will be named.
McGee had made it known for some time that he wanted to participate in the contest and now he gets his chance. Without three time winner Nate Robinson, Orlando center Dwight Howard and the always enticing but never entered Lebron James, McGee has a legitimate shot here at taking home the hardware, although the outrageous dunker Blake Griffin will pose a serious threat.
With Wizards guard John Wall a lock for the rookie sophomore challenge game, the Wizards will have two players representing at All-Star weekend but obviously the team won't have anyone playing in the All-Star game on Sunday night.
