Guard John Wall and forward Andray Blatche took part in this morning's shoot around and Wizards coach Flip Saunders is optimistic that he'll have his two top scorers back when they play the red hot New York Knicks at Verizon tonight. "Hopefully we will have everyone back we will see," Saunders said. Wall was a late scratch at Sacramento because of a sore foot and Blatche missed his second straight game because of a bad hip. "Any team in this league if you take out your two top scorers you're going to have trouble beating anybody in this league," Saunders said.
The Wizards need all the help they can get as the Amare Stoudamire led Knicks are in town riding a season high 6 game winning streak. Stoudemire is also streaking looking to score 30 plus points in his 7th straight ballgame. "Hottest team in the league right now and they score a lot of points," Saunders said. "Our Achilles heel is our ability to defend pick and rolls and they'll probably only run 95 percent of their offense through pick and rolls so it will be a challenge for us."
After losing three straight on the road, it will be good to be home for the Wizards who despite the 6-15 record, the Wizards have defended their home court well with a 6-3 mark.
Notes: Could it be the shoes that is aiding the foot discomfort for John Wall? I spotted Wall sporting the Allen Iverson Reebok Question shoe at shoot around this morning and not his usual Reebok Zigs. We shall see if he sports the question or his signature shoe this evening.
