Mike Green practiced with his Capitals teammates Tuesday morning and says that he feels fine after blocking a Matt Gilroy slap shot with his head Saturday against the Rangers.

Green went down immediately, but his helmet appeared to take the brunt of the shot as opposed to any exposed part of his head.

They make good helmets and this time it hit me in the helmet, Green said, sporting a bruise on the left side of his face. Im OK, so thats all that matters.

Green blocked a Brooks Orpik slap shot Feb. 6 at Verizon Center and missed the final 20 games of the regular season with a concussion and 26 of the final 28 games overall. Green says he has not felt any concussion-like symptoms since Saturday.

No, not at all, Green said. The first one was a lot different than this one. Right away, I knew with the first one that something was wrong. This one, I got up right away. Other than it stinging a little bit, I was fine.

Green skated just 5:36 spread over six shifts in Game 5 against the Rangers and did not return to the ice after going down in the first period. Green spent the third period on the Caps bench and, according to Bruce Boudreau, could have played if needed.

It happened so quick that it was pretty tender and sore when it did happen, Green said. But like I said, thank god for those helmets and Im very fortunate.

Green said that he has not seen a replay of the incident and does not intend on watching it. In fact, Green seems eager to put the play behind him altogether.

You know what? Im OK, Green told reporters, when asked about the evaluation process he underwent Saturday afternoon. So if you guys want to ask me about playoffs and the next round or how were preparing Ill answer, but Im OK.

Green had a goal and four assists in the opening round against New York and was the only player to record at least one point in all five games. Like his teammates, Green is playing the waiting game now, watching the other Eastern Conference series play out on television.

Ill be watching. I never used to but once these playoffs start, hockeys the only thing Ive been watching lately Ive been so into it. Ill be at home watching it tonight.

I watched the San JoseLos Angeles game last night I think it was like 12 oclock, I wanted to go to bed but I had to watch it. I guess as a fan youre a fan of the game it doesnt matter whos on the ice. When hockeys on youre watching.
