UPDATED 2:46 p.m.

The Redskins will be without safety LaRon Landry when they face New Englands second-ranked passing game Sunday.

A groin injury sustained two weeks ago forced Landry to again miss practice Friday and he was ruled out by coach Mike Shanahan.

Landry will miss his fifth game of the year he sat out Weeks 1-2 and Week 11 with an Achilles injury before getting hurt in the Seattle game. He was able to finish the game, though.

Reed Doughty is expected to get the start in Landrys place.

Also out is defensive lineman Chris Baker (quad). Promoted from the practice squad on Tuesday, he was injured at some point before practice on Wednesday.

Probable according to Shanahan are receiver Terrence Austin, defensive end Stephen Bowen, right tackle Jammal Brown, left guard Maurice Hurt, safety DeJon Gomes, cornerback DeAngelo Hall and punter Sav Rocca.

Left Tackle Status
Shanahan would not reveal if the left tackle would be veteran Sean Locklear or rookie Willie Smith, but one player said Locklear got most of the first-team snaps Friday.

Going with Locklear makes sense on a couple of fronts: He has NFL game experience (Smith does not) and the Redskins already have one rookie (guard Maurice Hurt) on the left side.

Locklear has started three games this year.

Field Concerns
Before the Redskins host New England, the Army-Navy game will be played Saturday at FedEx Field. It should make for less-than-ideal field conditions on Sunday.

Thats always a concern when theres a game the day before, Shanahan said. Youre hoping that its not raining and its not torn up. Were just keeping our fingers crossed. Weve been pretty lucky in the past so hopefully were lucky on Sunday.

The Redskins were on the road last month when Maryland and Notre Dame played on the field.

No New Co-Captain Yet
The Redskins have yet to decide who if anybody will replace left tackle Trent Williams as the offensive co-captain. Receiver Santana Moss is the other co-captain.

I have given it some thought, Shanahan said. Do I go with the next best vote-getter or do I just keep Santana? I havent decided yet.
