NBA.com has released their first edition of the NBA Power Rankings for the 2011-12 season. Yes of course a lot could change between now and Christmas Day.

At the moment team executives and coaches arent even allowed to talk to their players. This time next week will be the second day of a hectic three-day free agency period.

Miamis failure to handle business in the Finals didnt prevent them from topping this list. Dirk Nowitki and the defending champion Mavericks came in second but that could change if free agent center Tyson Chandler signs elsewhere.

Your home team Washington Wizards came in at 26 (one spot higher than last season). Whether or not they move up or down this list will likely hinge on the shoulders of John Wall.

Is he fully healthy? Has his jumper improved as much as it looked like from his summer league mix tape highlights? Will his leadership be able to offset what NBA.com called the Wizards knucklehead factor?

Check out the link for the entire list. Do you think the Wizards are rated to high? To low? Or just right?
