Sidelined the previous two weeks with a bruised right foot, Capitals goaltender Michal Neuvirth made it through two full practices and appears to be slated to get the start in goal Thursday night when the Capitals begin a brief two-game road trip to Edmonton on Thursday and Vancouver on Saturday.
"I told him hes probably starting Thursday, but take (the ice time) you need Wednesday," Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau said after Tuesday's practice. "Hes got to work hard like everybody else for two days."
Asked for confirmation on which goaltender -- Neuvirth or Tomas Vokoun -- he told would start Thursday night's game, Boudreau back-tracked.
"I told one of them," he said. "I'd like to see Neuvy healthy so he can start."
Since getting injured in pre-game warmups on Oct. 10, Neuvirth has watched goaltender Tomas Vokoun get off to a 6-0-0 start with a with a 1.80 GAA. Neuvirth's last start came in the Capitals' season-opening 4-3 win over Carolina on Oct. 8.
