Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett was being blunt Thursday when asked about Jets receiver Plaxico Burress.

We dont have anybody who can match up with him, Haslett said.

At 6-foot-5 and 232 pounds, Burress is one of the biggest receivers the Redskins will face all season. The Redskins top three corners DeAngelo Hall, Josh Wilson and Kevin Barnes are 5-10, 5-9 and 6-1 respectively.

Hello match-up problem.

Burress, who missed the previous two years while serving a prison sentence for gun possession, leads the Jets with seven touchdown catches and is third with 34 catches for 479 yards.

Hes a tough match up all over the field, not just the red zone, Haslett said. Hes a big body guy who can get open and make acrobatic catches. Were going to have our hands full. Well do the best we can with him.

Said coach Mike Shanahan: Its impressive. Anytime you have a guy with that size, that type of athletic ability, still able to make plays, its pretty impressive especially being out for a couple of years.

Burress started fast, catching four passes for 72 yards in the Jets season-opening win over Dallas, but had only 10 catches over the next five games.

But in November, Burress has caught his second wind, catching 20 passes (five touchdowns) in the last five games.

Week in and week out, my legs are getting stronger, Burress said on a conference call. Im getting back to doing some of the things I know I can and it just feels good to getting back in football shape.

In seven career games against the Redskins (all with the Giants), Burress has 34 catches for 441 yards and two touchdowns.

Career Day For Sanchez
Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez will face the Redskins for the first time Sunday and is coming off a career-high four touchdown passes against Buffalo.

For the season, Sanchez has 18 touchdowns, 11 interceptions and an 80.9 passer rating. He is 29-19 as the starter (regular season and playoffs).

Anytime you take your team to the AFC championship game two years in a row, youre doing some pretty good things, Mike Shanahan said. Everybody is going to have some up and down years, some up and down games, its not just the quarterback.

Ive been pretty impressed with Mark, the way hes handled himself and what hes been able to accomplish in a short amount of time. Not that hes arrived, but the way he works, you can tell hes pretty strong mentally.

Quick Kicks
Kyle Shanahan on Roy Helus hurdle-turned-touchdown run against Seattle: Ive been saving that for the right time. I showed him my college highlight tape.

The Redskins finally broke their opening-drive drought with a touchdown to start the Seahawks game. They previously only had a field goal.

That felt good, Kyle Shanahan said. We hadnt done it all year and to be able to go down, do it, make a couple third downs, make a couple big plays and finish it with a touchdown, it takes some pressure off and definitely makes it a lot easier.

Bodog.net believes in the Redskins more than last week. Off the board to win the Super Bowl, the Redskins were back in Thursday at odds of 1,000-to-1.
