On a night Sidney Crosby returned to the Penguins with a herculean two-goal, two-assist performance in Pittsburgh, Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin was asked if the return of Crosby might motivate him to snap out of his recent scoring slump.

It doesnt matter, Ovechkin told a small group of reporters after recording an assist in the Capitals 4-3 win over the Coyotes, his first point in five games.

Sidney (is) over there. I have to play my game.

Ovechkin reminded reporters he did not see Crosbys heroics since he was playing in his own game.

Its good for him, he added, coming back from long-term injury.

Ovechkin and Crosby are set to face off again on Dec. 1 at the Verizon Center.

Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau said his captain doesnt need Crosby to provide him with added incentive.

I hope that he doesn't need that," Boudreau said. I think he's trying his butt off out there.
