Clinton Portis is hoping to return this season after injuring his groin in Week 4 against the Eagles, but his motives might be surprising. According to Jason Reid of The Washington Post, Portis is eyeing the Redskins' all-time rushing record, currently held by John Riggins. If Portis wants to pass Riggins, he'll need to gain 680 more yards in a Skins uniform. Portis, however, has racked up a ton of carries during his nine-year career, so a 2010 return will be a tough one.
We're Talking About Practice?
Devin Thomas and the Redskins said their goodbyes to one another on October 9, when the mercurial receiver was waived by Washington. The former second-round draft pick recorded just 40 catches in two NFL seasons, and earned plenty of notoriety for laziness in practice. The Bleacher Report's KC Clyburn says that it was this unenthusiastic approach on the practice field that led to Thomas' eventual release.
