The channel cant be changed in the last week without seeing highlights of, the back-story of or analysis of Knicks guard Jeremy Lin. Hes led his team to a sixth straight win Tuesday night and his 136 points in his first five starts is the most since the NBA-ABA merger.
Lin is of course drawing comparisons to Tim Tebow even though his run is more impressive.
Which brings us to, of course, Your Redskins. Heres a recent an all Flash In The Pan Team:
Antonio Brown (2005). Among his 32 combined punt-kickoff returns, he had one memorable play a 91-yard kickoff return at Arizona when he famously blew a kiss to the Sun Devil Stadium crowd as he approached the end zone. Brown hasnt been in a regular season game since the 2005 season.
Jimmy Farris (2005). The first of many preseason Hall of Famers. He caught six passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns and became famous for being Terrell Owens off-season workout partner. Farris played two games for the Redskins in 2007.
Colt Brennan (2008). Completed nine of 10 passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns (157.5 rating) in scrub work against Indianapolis in Hall of Fame Game and then went 4-of-5 passing for 79 yards and a touchdown (158.3 rating) against the Jets a few weeks later. Reality soon set in. Brennan has never thrown a regular season pass.
Quinton Ganther (2009): Depleted at running back, Ganther got his chance, rushing eight times for 46 yards against New Orleans and 14 times for 50 yards at Oakland (Jim Zorns last win as coach). Ganther was released after the season.
Ryan Torain (2010-11): This may be the most classic case of flashing but not panning out. In 2010, he had consecutive games of 100 and 125 yards rush and then only nine carries and five missed games over the next six. Last year, he rushed for 135 yards and then 65 yards the rest of the year before being cut.
