EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. Rookie left tackle Willie Smith made his first NFL start today as the Redskins played the Giants.

Smith played the majority of the snaps last week (his first regular season action) but veteran Sean Locklear started the game.

As expected, Tyler Polumbus will start at right tackle for the injured Jammal Brown and the safety tandem will remain Reed Doughty and DeJon Gomes.

The Redskins inactives are Brown (groin), fullback Mike Sellers (elbow), running back Ryan Torain, linebacker Markus White, receiver David Anderson and defensive en Kentwan Balmer.

For the Giants, defensive end Osi Umenyiora (kneeankle) is out along with defensive back Derrick Martin, tight end Travis Beckum, linebacker Mark Herzlich, center David Bass, defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy and offensive tackle James Brewer.
