Teams have been able to pile up yards and sometime points against the Patriots this year. But it seems that the Redskins are ill equipped to exploit this weakness after losing two of their best offense players to drug suspensions. The CSN Washington Redskins coverage team picks the game. Ryan OHalloran (9-3) The Redskins will allow a season-high point total and thats not a knock on a defense that has been relatively consistent. But the match-up problems are numerous. Who covers Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez? Shoot, I would put DeAngelo Hall onHernandez and take your chances outside of the red zone by putting DeJon Gomes on The Gronk. The point total will be high because New England will get a lead, forcing the Redskins the pass and take chances and everybody knows what that will lead to. Patriots 38, Redskins 21 Jennifer X. Williams (7-5) As the Redskins host the Patriots, they will be without 3 of their starters. Trent Williams and Fred Davis are out becausewell, you know why and Washington will also be without, safety LaRon Landry. To add insult to injury New England has the 2nd ranked passing game in the league. Mike Shanahan ruled Landry out Friday as a result of injuring his groin versus the Seahawks. Our Ryan O'Halloran has more on this story: Each week the keys to a Redskins victory seem to be as follows: Good Rex Grossman has to show up i.e. have a solid B game and avoids turnovers. Improve on the run game and as we saw last week after Helu ran for 100 yards on 23 carries and a touchdown the Redskins decided to rely on the passing game. The D needs to step up to compensate for the inadequacies of the Skins offense. Mentally, this team has been through a lot this week and they have to face the Pats? Patriots 31, Redskins 14 Rich Tandler (8-4) The Redskins dont seem to be drawing many good matchups these days and this game is a case in point. New England is vulnerable on defense, particularly through the air, but the Redskins just arent equipped to take advantage of that fact with Fred Davis out of the lineup and Rex Grossman being, well, Rex Grossman. This could be close for a while but the Patriots will pull away in the second half. Patriots 24, Redskins 7
