The Redskins coaches were looking forward to working with Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill at the Senior Bowl. Now, they wont even be able to see him work out at the combine.
Tannehill, considered to be the third-best quarterback in the draft behind Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III, had foot surgery in January, knocking him out of the Pro Bowl. He was slated to be on the South team in the Senior Bowl, the squad that was coached by Mike Shanahan and the rest of the Redskins coaching staff.
The walking boot is off of his foot, according to a report by ESPN.com, and Tannehill is throwing. Still, he hasnt recovered from having a screw inserted into a fractured fifth metatarsal about three weeks ago sufficiently to take part in the combine.
Tannehill still will go to Indianapolis and undergo the medical exams and go through interviews. But he wont throw or do other physical drills until his pro day, which will be in late March.
The Redskins could be looking for a quarterback in the draft and Tannehill could be a good fit for what they like to do offensively.
