Although he may again change his mind, running back Ricky Williams has told the Ravens that he intends to retire. He had a quirky career but he will leave with over 10,000 yards rushing, quite a milestone.Redskins fans may remember how he came into the league and how it worked to the benefit of their team.New Orleans coach Mike Ditka had to have Williams, who won the Heisman Trophy at Texas, in the 1999 NFL draft. He traded away the draft picks that hadnt already been traded away plus the Saints 2000 first-rounder for the Redskins first pick, the fifth overall. Ditka took Williams and called it a draft day.The Redskins got the Saints picks in the first (12 overall) and third through seventh. Charley Casserly used some of those picks to trade back up and take Champ Bailey with the seventh overall pick and another went to trade up in the second round for tackle Jon Jansen. The 2000 first-round pick became LaVar Arrington. Not a bad haul. Williams had a nice career but Bailey and Arrington combined to make seven Pro Bowls for the Redskins and Jansen was a solid starter for most of the next decade.
