This morning, HardballTalk.com released its list of the top 50 free agents in Major League Baseball.
A couple of noteworthy items:
1) There were no Nationals on the top 50, but that doesn't mean the team was ignored by the Hardball Talk writer. Washington looks like "an obvious fit" for Indians outfielder Grady Sizemore, writes Matthew Pouliot, while the Nats are also mentioned as possibilities for Roy Oswalt, Edwin Jackson, Mark Buehrle and Jose Reyes.
2) As a Nats fan, would you rather the team sign Reyes or two of the other four players listed above? As talented as Reyes is, might the Nats be better off signing, say, Sizemore and Buehrle?
3) Do you agree with the top 5, a list that includes Rangers pitcher C.J. Wilson, who struggled mightily in the playoffs? Should Reyes be listed higher than Prince Fielder? Also, do you think Jonathan Papelbon should be much further up than Ryan Madson on the list?
4) Finally, get to know the name Yu Darvish, a 25-year-old Japanese pitcher who could throw a major wrench into MLB free agency this winter. Could the Phillies be interested in him?
