The first thing that stood out in the Redskins press release Thursday announcing the soccer match between the United States and Brazil at FedEx Field: the date.The Yanks and Brazilians will play at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, meaning the chances are good it wont be 1,000 degrees.For Redskins owner Dan Snyder, the game is another breakthrough in his effort to have his stadium previously used 10 times a year for his teams games host other events like soccer, college football and concerts. It was be the U.S. mens soccer teams first game at FedEx.The Redskins release said both teams A squads are scheduled to appear. That includes, barring injury, Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey, Carlos Bocanegra and Tim Howard.Tickets go on sale a week from Friday (Feb. 17) through Ticketmaster.Previous soccer games at the stadium were Manchester United-Barcelona (81,807 fans) two years ago and Real Madrid-D.C. United (72,368) three years ago.In a statement, Redskins chief marketing officer said the team is negotiating an additional match for late July.Already booked this year are a Kenny Chesney-Tim McGraw concert on Aug. 12 and two college games: James Madison-West Virginia on Sept. 15 and Virginia Tech-Cincinnati on Sept. 29.
