The Virginia Cavaliers announced their 2011 football schedule today featuring nine games against 2010 bowl teams and four that finished ranked in the AP Top 25 at the end of last season.
The Cavaliers were 4-8 overall and 1-7 in the ACC last year, Mike London's first as the team's head coach. The highlight of the conference schedule is an Oct. 27 Thursday night game at Miami. Virgnia stunned the Hurricanes in Charlottesville last year for their only ACC win.
Their non-conference schedule includes a first-even meeting against Idaho of the WAC, who they host on Oct. 1. Virginia also will host William & Mary and Southern Mississippi and travel to Indiana.
Virginia faces a tough ending to its schedule, facing traditional powers Florida State and Virginia Tech in the last two weeks of the season. The face the Seminoles in Tallahassee on Nov. 19 and will face the Hokies in the traditional season-ending game for the Commonwealth Cup, which rotates to Charlottesville in 2011.
Due to the conference schedule rotation, the Cavaliers will not face ACC teams Boston College, Clemson, or Wake Forest.
