Back in 2002, at the age of 18, defenseman Dennis Wideman nervously twiddled his thumbs as 240 players were taken ahead of him in the NHL draft.

Thursday night was no different for the 28-year-old member of the Washington Capitals. Making his first-ever All-Star appearance, Wideman again got the Rodney Dangerfield treatment when he was taken second-to-last in the All-Star draft.

Wideman was taken by Bruins captain and former teammate Zdeno Chara with the 29th overall pick of the NHL All-Star draft. Only Vancouver's Alex Edler saved him from the embarrassment of being the last player chosen for Sundays All-Star Game in Ottawa.
