A recap of the Washington Wizards 98-88 loss to the Chicago Bulls:
Sunday night Derrick Rose missed two free throws late in the fourth quarter as his Bulls went on to lose to the Miami Heat. Rose called missing both free throws unreal and placed Chicagos loss squarely on his shoulders. That was bad news for the Wizards. Tonight I'm going to try and go crazy, said Rose during Chicagos pregame shoot around. He proved to be a man of his word scoring 13 points and handing out three assists in the first quarter.
Why the Bulls won:
After holding an 11-point lead at halftime Chicago went on a 19-9 run to open the third quarter. Rose scored 15 of his game high 35 points in the quarter. Washington was unable to keep him out of the lane. The reigning MVP also tossed in 8 assists on the night.
While Rose got the better of John Wall in this match up the Wizards point guard held his own. He didnt back down from Rose on either side of the ball. Wall finished the game with 20 points. Trevor Booker also turned in a solid outing scoring 14 points and grabbing nine rebounds off the bench.
Jordan Crawford and Nick Young combined to shoot 3-for-16 from the field during the first half. The Wizards were unable to overcome the shooting woes from their most consistent perimeter threats. Chicago did a great job of forcing both Crawford and Young into contested jump shots.
Chicago won this game at the free throw line. They made more free throws (24) than the Wizards attempted (13).
On Wednesday the Wizards will look to pick up their second road win of the season as they travel to Orlando to face Dwight Howard and the Magic. From there they will travel north of the border to meet the Toronto Raptors on Friday.
