CSNwashington.comThe Sports Junkies (106.7, The Fan) talk Wall vs. Rose With Wizards rookie John Wall and the Bulls Derrick Rose both having been coached in college by John Calipari before becoming the overall number one picks in the NBA Draft, the comparisons between the two athletic point guards are natural. With Rose having a potential MVP season and perhaps taking it up a notch through two playoff games, the Junks took their turn.Even though the Wizards rookie has speed to burn, Lurch thinks Rose is even faster and is more explosive than John Wall, and all agree the local kid needs much work on his consistent jumper. The diehard Wizards fans in the room (Cakes mostly) are cised to think that Wall could soar to the heights of the Bulls star, but Lurch, lets just say hes not so much. Consistent all-star, maybe, sure, but Derrick Rose is going to be a top premier player in the league for the next 7-8 years.Capitals defenseman Karl Alzner called in to talk game 4 and talked about the Rangers aggressiveness that started from the opening drop and carried throughout the game. I think they had all four lines going out and being aggressive. I think we had all four lines doing it, but not for the entire game. What about facing the same team over and over again during the course of a series, does the hate build? Yeah, you build it up pretty quickWe try to learn everything we can about a team. By the third, fourth game you really know them inside out and how to push their buttonsIm not a guy that goes out there and throws punches to really gets under a guys skin. I try to do it another way.The Tony Kornheiser Show (ESPN 980): With noted golf host Scott Van Pelt calling in, Mr. Tony headed back to Augusta National to discuss, well, something about where the media sets up for the Masters. At least the will Tiger catch Jack talk appealed to the masses. For his money (at least 1 worth) , Van Pelt says Woods catches the Golden Bears major wins totals, though it doesnt seem like the lock that it once did, especially when you consider the last 10 majors have been won by 10 different people.Kornheiser also said he will be attending tonights Charlie Sheen Torpedo of Truth tour. That means Wednesdays radio show with forthcoming review figures to be, duh, winning.Remebering JaVale's Jobbed JamsIn this ongoing list of the top moments from the Wizards 2010-11 season, number five was certainly memorable. For starters, JaVale McGees unreal display of dunking on two baskets with three balls was epic. Him then getting hosed in the final round when Blake Griffin came away with the Dunk Champion crown was memorable for other reasons. Fixed. Yes, I said it. (Washington Post)Capitals Dj VuFour periods of hockey do not a seven-game series make, but there is something "unsettling" and rather familiar about the Capitals situation, seeing as they have been outplayed in each of the last 20 minute segments. (Washington Post)Of course, the Rangers had their way with the Capitals during the regular season. Maybe thats why even before they journeyed back home for game 3, the Rangersdidnt sound like a team that had stop believing. (Washington Examiner)Whenever the Worlds Most Famous Arena updates its promotional literature, Im betting Bruce Boudreaus horrible comments dont make the cut. (Washington Post)Listen here for Boudreau's take on the lousy locker rooms and benches inside the "not that loud" Madison Square Garden. The Capitals coach also made some pointed comments about a "dirty shot" delievered by the Rangers Marc Staal to the side head of Mike Green,. who recently returned after missing 20 games following a concussion. This is what coaches do, but some contend Boudreau's take is both "baseless and shrill." (NY Post)Clubbing Those Redskins Draft RumorsSo 10 minutes ago the NFL Draft rumor mill was churning out reports that the athletic Jake Locker was the quarterback Washington was eyeing. Now some are suggesting the immobile and soooo slow Ryan Mallett could be the call for the Redskins. (Pro Football Talk)Seriously, there are those who say all those character questions and off-the-field concerns were simply overblown and Mallett has moved back into first round discussion.(NFL.com)Well, at least there is nothing controversial currently going on with the strong armed University of Arkansas quarterback. Wait, Mallet'sreportedlyadmitting to teams that he took drugs? Any prospect saying that right before the draft would have to be sniffing glue or(CBSsports.com)National ImprovementNot all 8-7 records are the same, or at least dont feel as such. Right Nats fans? (Washington Times)No Stephen Strasburg meant lowering the bar of optimism when it came to the rotation.Right now the Nationals other starters are exceeding exceptions. (Washington Post)Listen for a double dose of Nats Insider Mark Zuckerman today on ESPN 980, at 12:40 and 6:05 p.m.Woes for OsEven before the Orioles suffered their eighth straight loss last night, manager Buck Showalter and his squad were dealing with a difficult stretch for the first time during his tenure. (Baltimore Sun)At least there is Manny a reason to be optimistic about the Orioles future up the middle. (Baltimore Sun) Running DownhillAnd now its 44 straight times a Bethesda runner has completed the grueling Boston Marathon. (Washington Post)The fastest marathon ever run was run on Monday in the worlds oldest and most prestigious version. Too bad the 26.2 mile course was deemed too easy for the record to actually count.
