Last week fish bit anything that moved. Water temps were in the mid 60s. Mann's Baby X Crank baits were the best bait. In clear water Lucky Craft Pointer 78 suspending jerkbaits were effective. But in windy areas, Mann's Classic spinnerbaits won out!

Water temperatures should remain about the same this week. NBC Ch. 4 meteorologist "Weather Kim" Martucci says, “Dramatic cool down expected this week with Monday highs only around 60 under some sun. Clouds and a slight warm up expected on Tuesday, highs on Wednesday in the upper 60s. Chance of rain Thursday. Friday brings a cool down with a good chance of rain over the weekend.”

There are two scenarios, grass and no grass. In areas without grass, try high tide areas with seawalls, docks and wood cover. Spots near deeper water with current is best. If water is clear, make long casts with the Baby X on GAMMA 12-pound Copoly line. Bounce off cover and hesitate. With cloud cover, a bit of chop and stained water, use Mann's Classic spinnerbaits on 12-pound GAMMA Edge fluorocarbon line.

In clear areas use suspending Pointer 78 jerkbaits on 10-pound Copoly, let them sit.

In grass, crawl Lucky Craft LVR D-7 lipless cranks around and over grass. Snap free to trigger strikes. Swim jigs like Mann's Stone jig with a bulky MIZMO Swamp Monster on 16-pound test Edge. In areas receiving heavy pressure, green pumpkin MIZMO tubes on insert heads glide slowly in grass. Shake on the bottom.

For a treat, try smallmouth on the Susquehanna River, closed for bass from May 1 till June 15. Water temp is 54 degrees and stained due to rising waters. Mizmo Tubes and jerkbaits are catching a lot of smallmouth! Mike Breeding is the top guide there, 443-614-9842.
