NEW YORK (AP) Comments on the Baltimore Ravens by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):

---

BALTIMORE RAVENS (8)

Chris Berman (ESPN, 7) - Use of bye week to retool without Ray Lewis a pivotal time.

Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 10) - They need this bye week after getting hammered in Houston. At least Terrell Suggs is back.

Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 10)

Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 8) - Haven't been able to stop the run and it doesn't seem to be getting any better ... when was the last time you heard someone say that about this defense?

Bob Glauber (Newsday, 6) - Ravens were primed for letdown after narrow win over Dallas and injuries to Ray Lewis and Lardarius Webb. But even with Terrell Suggs coming back from injury, you didn't think they'd suffer one of the worst defeats imaginable in Houston.

Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 7) - The Ravens have a bye and can use the extra week to find Ray Rice in their offense. He's their most dynamic offensive weapon, but over the last four weeks his workload has decreased from 18 to 17 to 16 to nine carries. Rice needs the football for Baltimore to succeed.

Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 7) - Seldom has 5-2 felt worse. It's not just that the Ravens lost their first game without Ray Lewis and Lardarius Webb; it's that they were destroyed.

Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 7) - Ray Rice made the trip to Houston but he didn't make an impact.

Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 9) - Terrell Suggs helps a defense that lost Ray Lewis and Lardarius Webb, but they still gave up 43 points this week. They will settle down, but right now there is some turmoil.

John Lynch (Fox Sports, 8) - The loss of their emotional leader and their best corner proved too much and the Texans let them know it.

Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 11) - A battered defense and problems playing on the road - especially for quarterback Joe Flacco - may become too much for the Ravens to overcome.

Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 8) - This is still a really good team, it just played a really bad game. The Ravens will be back.
