For weeks much talk has centered on possible connections between free agent cornerback Aqib Talib and the Washington Redskins. All that talk, now it's worth nothing, as Talib signed a lucrative contract with the Denver Broncos.
Talib signed a six-year, $57 million contract with the Broncos, with $26 million guaranteed. That's big-time money, and clearly represents a number Washington would not meet. Other big name free agents linked with Washington have landed elsewhere, notably Talib and new Saints safety Jairus Byrd, who agreed to a six-year, $54 million deal.
Talib played well for the Patriots after leaving the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but the seventh-year man out of Kansas also battled injuries and off-field issues in his career. In 2013, Talib played in 13 games and grabbed four interceptions. In seven years, Talib has played in 77 games with 23 interceptions.
