Mike Florio expects Redskins to contend in NFC East

Your Wednesday morning open thread:

Let’s talk Redskins rookies.

Now that we’ve had a chance to watch them in preseason action, who among the five that made the 53-man roster do you think will make the biggest impact in the regular season?

Your choices and their exhibition season stats:

  • CB David Amerson (11 combined tackles, 1 INT)
  • LB Brandon Jenkins (8 tackles, 1 sack)
  • FS Bacarri Rambo (9 tackles, 1 forced fumble)
  • TE Jordan Reed (6 receptions, 55 yards)
  • RB Chris Thompson (punt return for TD)

While I think all of them are going to get a chance to contribute in 2013, I’m going with Jenkins. He’s a natural pass rusher, he’s quick off the ball and has a variety of moves. Jenkins is also going to have plenty of chances to get after the quarterback as defensive coordinator Jim Haslett comes up with creative ways to get as many pass rushers involved as possible, like the package that puts him alongside established outside linebackers Brian Orakpo and Ryan Kerrigan.

Who you got?
