One day into training camp, the Redskins are already dealing with a potentially significant injury on their offensive line.Starting tackle Jammal Brown has been placed on the physically unable to perform list after aggravating the hip injury thats hampered him for the better part of a year, according to Coach Mike Shanahan.Brown was injured during conditioning sprints on Wednesday at Redskins Park. He did not participate in the morning walk through on Thursday or the afternoon practice. Tyler Polumbus, meantime, took Browns spot on the right side of the offensive line.Well give the doctors a chance to evaluate him and well get a better feel in the next few days where hes at, Shanahan said. He was running Wednesday and running well. On the sixth or seventh gasser it felt a little bit tight and it was a little bit sore this morning.Brown is eligible to come off the PUP list as soon as he passes his physical exam. The Redskins had been hoping Brown would enter camp healthy after an offseason in which he turned to Yoga to improve the flexibility and strength in his problematic hip. But it did not sound promising when Shanahan said Brown suffered a setback and theres no timetable for his return. Brown is expected to undergo an MRI tomorrow, Shanahan added. If Brown is unable to suit up, Shanahan said Polumbus, Maurice Hurt and Willie Smith will compete for the right to replace Brown, who missed all of the 2009 season with a hernia and played in only 13 games last season. You knew it was sore, you knew it could happen at any time, something like this. You just hope its a little flare up and nothing major, Shanahan said. There was also an injury on defense that bears watching. Safety Tanard Jackson, signed in the offseason to compete with Madieu Williams, DeJon Gomes, Reed Doughty for the starting free safety job, participated in the morning walk through but did not suit up for practice.Jackson has also been placed on the PUP list with a strained calf that he suffered during OTAs.Youre always disappointed, but the good thing is hopefully hell be ready Saturday or Monday, Shanahan said of Jackson.
