Tight end Fred Davis is among the Redskins' inactive players tonight and it will be a costly night off.
A clause in Davis' one-year contract calls for a $500,000 bonus if he is active for at least 12 games during the regular season. This will be his fifth game on the inactive list meaning the most he can be active for is 11.
Davis admitted last week that he occasionally "dozed off" during meetings, something that may have been a factor in his status this season. Coach Mike Shanahan also referred to practice habits as a possible reason why Davis, who was given the team's franchise player tag in 2012, has not dressed for games.
Another factor in Davis' severely reduced role may the the emergence of rookie Jordan Reed, the team's third-round pick in this year's draft, into a legitimate threat. Reed is second on the team in both receptions with 38 and receiving yards with 425.
