London Fletcher's family involved in altercation at Cleveland game
A happy homecoming turned ugly for Redskins linebacker London Fletcher following the Redskins 38-21 win over the Cleveland Browns. According to a report several of Fletcher’s family members were involved in an altercation with Browns fans that resulted in three arrests and one hospitalization.
It was originally reported that Fletcher's aunt, Yvette Hutson, had suffered a heart attack during the incident. However, Fletcher appeared on “NFL AM” on the NFL Network this morning and he reported that his aunt had suffered an neck injury, not a heart attack. Fletcher also said that stadium security escalated the incident.
"I'm from Cleveland. I know Browns fans. They're rabid fans and they love their team," Fletcher said, "but I guess in the stadium, (my family was) being harassed. The situation that led to people being arrested was stadium security. One of the stadium security guys assaulted one of my family members. So instead of diffusing the situation, he escalated the situation."
According to reports, they were being harassed because they were wearing Redskins gear. The trouble started as soon as they got out of their car at the stadium.
"(I) had a 13-year-old cousin who was hit in the face prior to the game,” said Fletcher. “He wasn't hurt like that, he is OK."
Fletcher is a Cleveland native and this was the first NFL game he played in his hometown.
