Pierre Garçon did not practice again on Thursday, raising doubts about the wide receiver’s availability for the Redskins’ NFC East opener in New York on Sunday.

Garçon, who missed last week’s game with the right foot injury that’s dogged him all season, is also not expected to practice on Friday, Coach Mike Shanahan said.

“I’m not going to declare him out because you never know for sure,” Shanahan said. “There’s other injuries that happen and other variables that could happen. It would be a long shot unless someone went down on our football team tomorrow.”

Garçon had another pain-relieving injection on Wednesday, Shanahan said. The most recent shot, the coach added, was more localized than previous injections.

“Initially we thought it was going to be a couple of days and it would get better,” Shanahan said. “Obviously it hasn’t gotten better. It’s gotten a little bit worse.  So we’re going to give him some rest and hopefully, with a few days rest, he’ll feel better.”

Then Shanahan shrugged, underscoring the uncertainty surrounding Garçon’s injury.

“Who knows?” he added. “We’ll just wait and see.”
