Tarik El-Bashir talks Jay Gruden on Yahoo!'s SportsDash
Jon Gruden is a proud big brother today.
"I'm really happy for my brother,” Gruden said in a statement released by ESPN, referring, of course, to Jay Gruden being named the Redskins’ new head coach. “He's worked extremely hard to get this opportunity.”
Jon Gruden, who won a Super Bowl with Tampa Bay after the 2002 season, currently serves as the analyst on ESPN's Monday Night Football. He also gave Jay—four years his junior—his first NFL coaching job, as an offensive assistant with the Buccaneers 11 years ago.
According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com, ESPN will permit Jon to call Jay’s games, though it's not clear if the Redskins appear on MNF next season.
“The Redskins are one of the great NFL franchises,” Jon Gruden continued, “and I expect him to make the most of this opportunity.”
