The Redskins reached a deal in principle with DeSean Jackson Tuesday night and perhaps some of the credit should go to Kevin Durant.
As the Redskins worked towards signing the Pro Bowl receiver, several Redskins and notable D.C. natives began to help with the 'recruiting,' including Durant.
Durant took to Twitter Tuesday night in an effort to cajole Jackson into signing with Washington.
Durant was born in Washington D.C. and, although his basketball allegiance may lie with Oklahoma City, has stayed vocally loyal to the burgundy and gold.
Durant's endorsement added to the star treatment Jackson received when he arrived in D.C.
On Monday he met with members of the Redskins' coaching staff and hung out with Pierre Garçon, DeAngelo Hall and rapper Wale. He also visited Redskins park on Tuesday, but initially left without a deal. Later that night, however, it became known that the Redskins and Jackson had agreed to terms.
Jackson caught a career-high 82 receptions for 1332 yards in 2013. Several teams were reportedly interested in him, perhaps prompting the extra coaxing from Durant.
How much Durant's plea may have swayed Jackson is not known, but clearly it didn't hurt.
