London Fletcher did not practice with the Redskins on Wednesday due to a strained hamstring and balance issues, Coach Mike Shanahan said.

Fletcher suffered the hamstring strain early in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 27-24 loss to the Giants and did not return to the game. It’s unclear when the linebacker began suffering the balance issues.

“He’s got some problems with his balance,” Shanahan said. The coach added that Fletcher, who watched Wednesday’s practice, has been under the care of team doctor Dr. Anthony Casolaro and a neurologist.

“It was Monday evening when I found out,” Shanahan said of Fletcher’s balance issues.

Asked if he’s concerned that Fletcher won’t be able to suit up Sunday in Pittsburgh, Shanahan said: “Before we say we’re worried, let’s get a review from the doctors and see what they have to say. We’ll know more tomorrow.”

Fletcher has played in 231 consecutive NFL games, which is the longest active streak in the league. That would appear to be in jeopardy.
